Principal & Founder

David’s design philosophy centers on the creation of enduring environments that are both responsible and sustainable. His approach extends beyond the mere structure, encompassing a comprehensive program that addresses functional requirements while seamlessly integrating aesthetic and contextual imperatives. This holistic approach imbues his projects with a timeless quality, ensuring their long-term value and relevance. By embracing the principles of sustainability and thoughtful design, David consistently delivers architectural solutions that stand the test of time.

Before founding Assembledge+, David significantly contributed to the success of various esteemed Los Angeles architectural firms. He held key positions at Syndesis (David Hertz) in Santa Monica and Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects in Culver City, where he played an instrumental role in designing and managing numerous award-winning residential, multifamily, and commercial projects.

David holds a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from Tulane University, where he serves on the Advisory Board Committee and is actively involved in the Richardson Memorial Hall Preservation Program, the River and Delta Urbanism Platform, and other initiatives. Additionally, he’s been a member of organizations such as the AIA and the LA Forum for Art and Architecture. David was raised in the heart of Hollywood and retains a deep knowledge of Los Angeles and a commitment to extending the city’s history of architectural innovation.

Director of Operations

With her diverse skill set and experience, Tara brings an invaluable perspective to Assembledge+. Her passion for creating innovative and sustainable architectural solutions drives her work, consistently pushing boundaries. With more than a decade of experience in designing and overseeing projects and teams, Tara ensures efficient operations and adherence to schedules.

She holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from McGill University in Montreal. During her undergraduate studies, her talent and dedication earned her the prestigious first prize in both the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction’s (CISC) Architectural Student Design Competition and the Murdoch Laing Housing Design Competition, showcasing her exceptional design skills and innovative thinking.

Before joining Assembledge+, Tara gained valuable experience in the dynamic city of New York. She worked at Bjarke Ingels Group, where she contributed to the iconic VIA West 57th Street project. She later joined ROART, where she focused on multifamily residential projects and adaptive reuse, further honing her expertise in these specialized areas.

Tara is a registered architect and has received certification from the National Council for Architectural Registration Boards.

Bringing a wealth of diverse experience, Felicity plays a pivotal role in supporting the Assembledge+ team, allowing them to concentrate wholeheartedly on their architectural endeavors. As our dedicated Office Manager, she adeptly ensures that our studio operates seamlessly and efficiently, providing the necessary resources and support for the team to excel.

Beyond her role in the studio, Felicity finds joy in refining her culinary skills by perfecting recipes, immersing herself in nature through hiking adventures, exploring new destinations while traveling, and cherishing precious moments with her loved ones. Her diverse interests and passions add vibrancy and balance to her life, reflecting her well-rounded personality.

Senior Project Manager

Megan brings over a decade of experience working in single-family residential architecture to Assembledge+. Her work is driven by a project’s natural environment along with the client’s life experiences and individual desires. She is passionate about the transformative role spaces play in people’s daily memories and milestone life events.

Megan graduated from Auburn University with a Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Interior Architecture. For her thesis, Megan participated in Auburn University’s Rural Studio where she spent two years in Alabama’s Black Belt designing and building a Fabrication Pavilion for the studio. While at Rural Studio, Megan developed an understanding and deep appreciation for the rigor of the construction process. 

Before joining Assembledge+ Megan worked in Miami before joining the team at Walker Workshop in Los Angeles & later And And And Studio. While working in Los Angeles, Megan has worked on a variety of scales in single-family residential architecture and interiors. She has experience in all phases of design through construction. Her goal as a Senior Project Manager is to seamlessly merge the unique perspectives of a client, consultant, contractor and architect.

Holding a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Pittsburgh and with a Master of Architecture from USC School of Architecture – graduating summa cum laude at both – Caleb aspires to develop a holistic approach that spans from micro to macro levels. With a vision to engage the built environment on multiple scales, he aims to strengthen and revitalize existing cultural contexts, recognizing architecture’s crucial role in shaping and enhancing communities.

In his role as Project Designer I, Caleb is dedicated to refining design details and employing a sophisticated understanding of the architectural process. He actively contributes to various stages of a project, from conceptualization to realization, showcasing his comprehensive skill set and commitment to delivering outstanding results.

Caleb is currently pursuing both LEED Accreditation and Architectural Licensure.

Ignacio possesses a wealth of experience across diverse sectors, including residential, commercial, and public infrastructure. Engaged in every phase of project development, he demonstrates a keen interest in detail production and the seamless coordination of consultants.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in architecture from the esteemed University of Florida, where his passion for architectural research studies blossomed. Ignacio firmly believes in the transformative power of architecture to create a more equitable world, infusing his work with a deep commitment to social responsibility.

Junior Designer

Janette De Los Santos holds a Bachelor of Architecture and Visual Arts from the University of San Diego and a Master of Architecture from the USC School of Architecture. She approaches design as a dialogue between space, form, and human experience, with a passion for creating architecture that fosters connection and transforms the everyday.

As a Junior Designer at Assembledge+, Janette contributes to projects across all phases, from schematic design and development through construction administration. Skilled in 3D modeling, rendering, and visualization, she brings ideas to life while supporting the collaborative and detail-oriented process that defines the firm’s work.

Her design work has been recognized in exhibitions such as the A+D Museum and ACLA’s 2×8, and featured in publications including Dezeen and Archinect.

Originally from sunny Santa Cruz, California, Piper holds a bachelor’s degree from UCLA in Neuroscience and is currently pursuing her Master of Architecture at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.

Her academic work explores the relationship between health, wellness, and architecture, with a focus on the brain-body connection and the ways the built environment can influence mental and physical well-being. Piper is especially interested in designing spaces that positively impact the individual while also engaging larger questions of sustainability, materiality, and environmental responsibility.

Before joining Assembledge+, Piper worked with firms specializing in residential design, where she deepened her understanding of the meaning of home and the care involved in designing and building domestic spaces.

She is excited to continue exploring sustainable materials, innovative building methods, and architecture’s potential to support healthier ways of living.

Andrea’s understanding of the architectural and design industry is pivotal in guiding Assembledge+  toward nuanced strategies that position the firm to continue creating enduring designs. As the Director of Marketing and Communications, she is committed to nurturing meaningful connections within the industry and adeptly conveying the firm’s values to a wider audience.

She kick-started her academic journey by earning a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Art Theory from the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. Seeking to deepen her understanding of the dynamic relationship between design and technology, Andrea pursued a master’s degree in Media, Culture, and Communication at New York University. During her studies, she delved into the fascinating exploration of architecture as a machine through the lens of media.

Prior to joining Assembledge+, Andrea honed her skills and expertise at a public relations agency based in New York City, where she managed PR activities for renowned architecture studios, design galleries and institutions.  Her valuable contributions extended to notable projects such as the Sydney Modern Project by SANAA. Moreover, Andrea’s passion for engaging and thought-provoking curation led her to curate exhibitions in New York City, where she critically examined the relationship between anthropology and design.

Special Consultant

Richard is an accomplished Architect and Urban Planner renowned for his expertise in a wide range of projects spanning architecture, planning, urban design, community design, transportation, institutional, university, and corporate master planning. His career has been marked by significant contributions to prestigious firms and numerous award-winning projects.

Before joining Assembledge+ in 2013, Richard served as a Principal and Director of the Urban Design and Planning Studio at AC Martin Partners. Notably, his leadership played a pivotal role in the success of campus master planning, new community planning, urban mixed-use development, urban transit planning, and corporate master plans.

As an expert in planning for colleges and universities, he has spearheaded the development of 30 college and university master plans, each of which has profoundly shaped campus environments and provided a clear vision for growth and enhancement. Richard’s influence extends beyond the United States, with notable projects in the Far East. He has led the design of new communities, university campuses, and resort projects in countries such as Korea, China, Japan, and Thailand.

A dedicated urbanist, part-time painter and urban pioneer, Richard lives in an artist’s loft in downtown Los Angeles’ Art district and remains optimistic about the ongoing revitalization of downtown LA, embracing the realization of long-held aspirations for the vibrant district.

Hailing from Tucson, Athena holds a Bachelor’s degree in Design Management from Arizona State University and a Master’s degree in Architecture from the University of Arizona, where she graduated summa cum laude.  

Throughout her academic pursuits, Athena’s focus encompassed the intricate dynamics of public spaces – how they evolve over time under the influence of those who utilize and inhabit them. Her fascination lies in the ability of these spaces to foster connections between individuals and their environment, forging meaningful relationships. 

 Before joining Assembledge+, Athena dedicated her expertise to the realm of modern desert residential projects, during which she gained a deeper comprehension of land ethics and how to harmonize design with intricate site-specific elements, spanning topographical, cultural, environmental, and ecological factors. 

Her curiosity lies in the intersection of conceptual drawings and the practicalities of the project site—comprehending the construction process and how it can illuminate more clever design solutions and detailing.
